<p>A big advocate of all things natural and wellbeing focused, the New Forest&#8217;s luxurious <a href="https://www.limewoodhotel.co.uk/spa" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Herb House Spa</a> at the 5-star Lime Wood Hotel in Lyndhurst has a new treatment from Irish skincare pioneer, GROUND Wellbeing.</p>

<p>Launched alongside her new <a href="https://groundwellbeing.com/collections/biome" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Biome Skincare range</a>, spa consultant and GROUND founder Peigín Crowley&#8217;s new <a href="https://limewoodhotel.try.be/items/67ed755ce19541b9e206e4e3/60m-ground-biome-facial" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Biome Facial treatment</a> combines &#8216;lymph activating&#8217; therapeutic massage techniques with probiotic herbal and plant-based products in a 60 or 90-minute treatment. It&#8217;s geared to recharge, hydrate and address areas where stress can linger, such as the abdomen, diaphragm and décolleté.</p>

<p>A spa exclusive in England, when GROUND first arrived at Lime Wood&#8217;s Herb House a couple of years ago <a href="https://hants.muddystilettos.co.uk/lifestyle/wellbeing-lifestyle/review-spa-lime-wood-new-forest/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Muddy</a> was, of course, one of the first to volunteer to robe-up for a next-level 90-minute Grounding Ritual massage. So naturally, I shot back to give the new GROUND Biome Facial a whirl.</p>

<p>Arriving early, a healthy breakfast bowl of delicious crushed eggs and avocado with tomatoes, spinach, sauerkraut and sprouting pulses in the spa&#8217;s Raw &amp; Cured café started the day well. Then it was off to meet my GROUND Biome Facial treatment therapist.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-ground-biome-facial-treatment">THE GROUND BIOME FACIAL TREATMENT</h2>

<p>After wiping my hands and feet with a warm cloth, my therapist puts a castor oil heat pack on my tummy with the dual purpose of transferring anti-inflammatory enolic acid and promoting blood flow. Starting with some deep breathing, the rest of the treatment slips by. </p>



<p>For the most part it’s heavenly, especially soothing massage stones and blissful shoulder massage. Instinctively however, I find the sweeping massage close to my throat a little uncomfortable. </p>



<p>After the GROUND Biome Facial, I&#8217;m utterly relaxed as I sip a herbal tea in the relaxation room before floating off for a dip in the bubbling indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools. Later, in the mirror, I&#8217;ve picked up a definite spa glow and a there&#8217;s slight firmness in my face that wasn&#8217;t there before too. Bonus.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h2>



<p><strong>Good for:</strong> Subtle but visible glow and tightening and deep relaxation. The organic, plant-based GROUND skincare products feel great to use. The Biome Facial is also suitable for pregnancy, so mammas-to-be can find extra glow.</p>



<p><strong>Not for:</strong> If you&#8217;re a traditionalist or prefer &#8216;light touch&#8217; facials, some aspects of the GROUND Biome Facial might stretch you beyond your comfort zone. </p>



<p><strong>The damage:</strong> 5* spa prices &#8211; but worth every penny. The GROUND Biome Facial starts at £140 for a 60-minute treatment. A 90-minute treatment is £185. Midweek spa experiences including breakfast in Raw &amp; Cured, a 60-minute Biome Facial or other treatment and use of the spa starts at £185pp.</p>
