Hellooooo, Property Flirt! It's time to check out another des-res from the local area and guess the price. This week we're in the heart of Winchester with a historic family home, mere steps from the city centre.
It’s time to delve back in behind the doors of a fabulous property from the area and this week’s… whoooo weee! What a beaut’!
If you haven’t played Property Flirt before, it’s easy (not to mention fun). Just have a look at the pictures (now, now, pick that jaw up off the floor), look at the clues and see if you can guess the price. Anybody who hits the nail on the head wins a jet ski… OK, perhaps not, but you’ll certainly get major kudos from me for being so savvy.
This week we’re in the heart of Hampshire’s capital, Winchester, with an absolute gem of a house. This former Guard House comes with a PRIME location, 4 beds, 2 bathrooms, bags of history (it was once used to detain soldiers, security should be good then!) and tonnes of Georgian Revival features. It’s Grade II listed to boot.
With three very good sized reception rooms, all letting in lots of light and adorned with rather lovely plantation-style shutters, there’s bags of space for a family here. The wooden flooring looks chic and I absolutely love the modern kitchen with creamy countryside vibes, the little snug area is ideal and makes a perfect hub for a family home.
The dining room is a grand, spacious affair, complete with an inglenook fireplace and despite its historic status, has a freeflow open plan feel into the kitchen/snug room.
There are three bedrooms on the upper floor, one complete with its own ensuite. Every single one comes with quirky window features and a good amount of floor space (so nobody gets a box room, huzzah!). Down on the ground floor there is also a fourth bedroom/study, that comes with its own shower room as well.
The house also comes with a garage (ideal for this city central location) and a rather glorious walled garden, with french windows leading into the main part of the house.
What else can I clue you with… well, you’re certainly never going to be bored on the weekends with Winchester right on your doorstep, along with The Great Hall, Winchester City Mill and Everyman all just being a few strides from the front door there’s also all the boutiques, bars, restaurants and gastro pubs within a few streets.
Local schools are excellent and include top names such as St Swithuns, The Pilgrims’ School and Winchester College all within walking distance, road and rail connections are also fantastic with the M3 a few miles away, Waterloo and Reading both easily accessible from Winchester. All things that will tickle the price up.
Right then, that’s enough from me. Discuss, decide what the property is worth, and see how close you get.
