Hellooooo, Property Flirt! Take a virtual poke around this gorgeous three-bed family house for sale in the Hampshire village of Upton Grey.
Bored of the telly but not yet ready to venture off the sofa? Well, this oughta entertain you – a peek through the keyhole at this stunning Grade II-listed village property for sale in the gorgeous Hampshire village of Upton Grey, near Basingstoke. If you haven’t played Property Flirt before, it’s easy (not to mention fun) to turn virtual estate agent. Guess how much it’s worth – and see if you can beat your partner! (Competitive, always).
So, what do we have here? A smart, detached, Grade II listed village house The Old Bakery dates back to the eighteenth century with late Victorian add-ons (oh, just look at those sash windows…). Prime location alert – until 1997, part of this house was the village shop. Just a few minutes’ away from the M3, you can head up town pretty easily too via Basingstoke, Hook and Winchfield stations into London Waterloo – handy!
Stepping inside the triple aspect sitting room, we’ve an open fireplace (cosy) and views down the village towards the pretty pond. Which, by the way, is surrounded by thatched cottages and just about as chocolate box Hampshire as it gets.
Into the country kitchen and tucked away under the granite work surfaces are your essential integrated appliances. Wine cooler, check. And what self-respecting countryside kitchen doesn’t have an Aga? It keeps the room toasty warm and Mary Berry is a fan. That’s us convinced.
Completing our tour of the downstairs, we have a dining room, family room and study. Also on the ground floor, a utility room, shower room and a cloakroom.
Heading upstairs, you’ll find three, surprisingly light-filled bedrooms, all doubles, and all with lovely views. The historic features continue in spades – think exposed bricks, period fireplaces and oh, those character beams! And, for those of you that were sneakily deducting, yes, there IS an upstairs bathroom – and it’s a pretty nice one, too.
Behind the house, there’s a paved sitting area and steps leading up to the pretty garden. And – panic not, I know you were – there’s also driveway parking for several cars.
So, what else can I tell you? If you don’t know it, Upton Grey is an absolutely gorgeous village four miles south west of Odiham, surrounded by some pretty stunning North Hampshire downs countryside.
About as quintessential as it gets, there’s village shop and post office, the aforementioned duck pond, a Saxon Church, village hall and absolutely cracking pub, The Hoddington Arms, (known locally as ‘The Hodd’. Take note – if you decide to move here, you’re gonna need to know this). It’s also one of our top picks for a splendid Sunday Roast, if you’re looking for a recommendation. But we digress.
