The best beauty advent calendars 2021

The Liberty beauty advent calendar plus John Lewis and M&S versions have all just dropped... Snap 'em up now before they sell out (yes, really!).

The cult brands: Space NK, £199

If you’re a lover of the gorgeously stark and elegant high street temple to beauty goodies that is Space NK, this calendar is a peach. Best of all, there are 30 doors! So, it takes you way beyond Christmas and lightens the dark days of be-twixtmas. Praise be for the likes of Nars, Sisley, Laura Mercier and Dermalogica.
Best door: Crème De La Mer Moisturizing Cream. It might only be 7g but we’ll make it last…

The eco one: L’Occitane Reuseable Advent Calendar, £160

This ever-so-pretty calendar is a winner for the sustainable beauty lover – made from recycled cotton and designed by UK illustrator Kitty McCall, it contains all the top selling L’Occitane goodies including scrubs, bath foams, shower gels and a pillow mist.
Best door: It’s gotta be the Intensive Repair Conditioner – your tresses need some love come winter.

The high street dream: John Lewis, £159

Who knows what we want better, than our old friend, JL? For starters, there’s 26 full and deluxe size products, and second, with the likes of Evolve, This Works, MAC and REN, what’s not to love?
Best door? Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex (full size alert!)

The one from the guys in white coats: Kiehls, £99

If you’re a lover of the Kiehls science/clinical white coat approach you’ll love this collection of its top-sellers. Iconic Kiehl’s goodies (some in decent sizes), and including cleansers, face masks, serums and moisturisers… that’s your new beauty regime sorted.
Best door? Ultra facial cream – it’s a winter essential when the wind is biting.

The one stocked full of best-sellers: Next, £69

From Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser to Marc Jacobs’ Daisy Eau De Toilette, this calendar features some of the most popular brands in the industry and at a reasonable price (in a world gone mad for beauty advent calendars…).
Best door? Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Deep-Conditioning Treatment – works magic in the frizzy/unkempt coiffeur department.

The one for guys: Next, £69

We couldn’t pass this one by – for the aesthetic-aware male in your life… or perhaps one who needs to pay a bit more attention… ahem. This, like the women’s version, above, is full of popular brands like Hugo Boss, Bulldog, Kiehls, and doesn’t require the chap in question to have a degree in skincare (though you might need to explain what a serum is…).
Best door? Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser – no this isn’t to add to your muesli, darling.

The ‘budget’ one: M&S, £40 (when you spend £30 on clothing, home and beauty in-store or online).

This one has 25 individually wrapped and numbered boxes in a sparkly blue and gold tin (permission to treat yourself granted). And you can buy your mother-in-law a Christmas jumper with the minimum spend requirement. Bingo! It contains M&S beauty brand bits plus the likes of Stila, L’Occitane, This Works and Emma Hardie.
Best door: Nails INC Tis The Season To Sparkle Nail Polish – not one you’d buy yourself, but it’ll be the cherry on the cake of your festive season party look.

The best one for re-gifting: White Company, £160

Ok, so we know you’re going to want to keep it all for yourself, but say someone brings an unexpected other half… hey presto: White Company candle/hand cream/body wash at the ready.
Best door: Fir Tree Signature Candle – Christmas for your nose.

The iconic one: Liberty, £225

The original, and surely the most beautiful of them all (modelled on the exterior of the dreamy store). Liberty launched an entire industry when it created its advent calendar in 2014. It’s the most successful and fastest-selling product in the department store’s 145 year history, and includes all of the massive luxe brands and lesser-known, but still snazzy, ones. Expect Susanne Kaufmann, Votary, Surratt, Le Labo and Vilhelm Parfumerie.
Best door: The one with the golden ticket in… one lucky calendar contains a ‘Golden Ticket’, affording them a voucher worth £5,000 to spend at Liberty… we’ve got everything crossed for you darling.

The one from the queen of beauty: By Terry, £169

Terry de Gunzburg (she of Touche Eclat fame… yes, it was she who created one of the best selling beauty products of all time) launched her own make-up range when she left YSL. And now you can have one of each of her best-selling products including mascara, lip colour and micellar water, in miniature, for every day of December.
Best door? The best-selling Hyaluronic Hydra Pressed Powder, for setting makeup and giving your complexion an Insta vignette of flawlessness.
