I'm ALL over it. From a cracking new bar set to take over Portsmouth, splashy fun for next year including a celebration of Hampshire, come here and I'll give you ALL the goss.
Preparations are underway for Hampshire’s first-ever Hampshire Day on Monday 15 July. This day will celebrate everything wonderful about Hampshire, its rich history and culture. As part of the celebrations, there has been a brand new flag created which will be raised as part of the ceremony at 9:30am on Monday.
Also, the day is also known St Swithun’s Day and legend has it if it rains then it’ll rain for forty days straight. Errr, no thanks… sun all the way, please!
New New New!
There’s been an absolute flurry of activity at the Gunwharf Quays lately. With brand new bar/club/eatery Eden’s opening last week (I’ve been and it looks AMAZING) there’s also a brand spanking new restaurant opening this week as well.
Specialising in super fresh, healthy and tasty Vietnamese fare, Pho will be opening up overlooking the waterfront on the upper balcony. I snuck there for a sneaky peek and the food was utterly delicious. It’s the first outlet from the group to open down in the South and if you fancy trying it out for yourself they’re giving away free (yes, FREE!) Pho tomorrow with a voucher. Make sure you don’t miss out.
Also, very excitedly The Alchemist will be opening its doors around November at Gunwharf as well. This super popular bar/eatery creates incredible molecular cocktails with all sorts of science, magic and well.. alchemy. Already popular in places such as Oxford, Liverpool and London this will undoubtedly become THE place for a fun night out. Watch this space and we’ll bring more details of its opening date soon.
A few new shops are also opening up around the county with Whiteley getting its very own Seasalt store (yellow sandals for all!) and Winchester becoming the latest spot to have its very own Whistles too.
Summer 2020 SORTED
We know it’s tough finding stuff to keep the kids amused but there have been two announcements lately that will answer all your summer holiday prayers for next year. As if Tapnell Farm wasn’t cool enough its also going to be home to the Island’s first-ever AQUA PARK from next year. With inflatables, slides and all sorts of fun stuff, this place is going to be AMAZING. Best get that bikini ready to throw yourself down some flumes with careless abandon.
And over the water in Hampshire, Paulton’s Park has announced a brand spanking new section opening next year. Tornado Springs will be styled as a Midwest 50s town and will feature eight brand new rides, including the Stormchaser Rollercoaster which will be free spinning ride 20 metres above ground (*gulp*), plus the scary-sounding Cyclanator and Al’s Auto Academy where the kids can drive electric cars themselves (*double gulp*).
