<p>There’s a new electric car brand quietly turning heads. If you haven’t yet heard of Changan, prepare to start seeing the name everywhere.</p>



<p>The Chinese automotive giant has officially arrived in the UK market, bringing with it sleek fully electric SUVs, interiors that feel pretty premium for the price tag and the kind of standard spec list that usually requires several expensive upgrade boxes to be ticked. <p>The Deepal S07 starts at around £39,995 in the UK, making it noticeably cheaper than several rivals in the same category, including Tesla’s Model Y. Yet inside, it feels reassuringly expensive. The cabin is clean, contemporary and calm, with the sort of design aesthetic that feels much more boutique hotel than budget EV.</p>



<p>Families will love the generous cabin space and clever storage, commuters will appreciate the quiet, comfortable drive and anyone making the switch to electric for the first time will probably enjoy the fact that Changan seems determined to make EV ownership feel accessible rather than intimidating.</p>

<p>What’s particularly interesting about Changan is that while the name may feel new to UK drivers, the company itself absolutely isn’t. This is one of China’s oldest and largest car manufacturers, with a history stretching back more than 160 years and annual global sales topping three million vehicles.</p>



<p>In fact, Changan has been quietly laying European foundations for years. The brand opened a design centre in Turin – naturally, because Italy – and established a UK engineering and research facility near Birmingham long before most people here had heard of the company.</p>



<p>Then there’s the reassurance factor. Because while “new car brand” can sometimes trigger understandable hesitation, Changan is leaning hard into trust-building. The warranty package is seriously competitive: seven years or 100,000 miles for the vehicle itself, plus an eight-year battery warranty for EV models.</p>



<p>And importantly, safety hasn’t been sacrificed in pursuit of affordability. The Deepal S07 has earned a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, placing it firmly alongside far more established premium competitors.</p>

<p>Because while electric cars have become increasingly aspirational, they’ve also become increasingly expensive. Many buyers are now finding themselves priced out of the market altogether – especially when optional extras start piling up faster than Zara deliveries.</p>



<p>Changan’s appeal lies in the fact it feels indulgent and attainable. The automotive equivalent of discovering the fabulous under-the-radar fashion label before everyone else catches on.</p>
