Position of the week
Not like that - naughty! We're talking about yoga, of course.
We’re living in uncertain and stressful times, which means it’s more important than ever to take care of our wellbeing and to steal a few moments for ourselves each day.
And it literally can be a few moments – enough time to complete a single stress-busting yoga move. We’ve asked Portsmouth-based Lottie Hazel, a.k.a. The Wellbeing Warrior, to show a two minute calm-inducing, grounding move to take you to your happy place.
Take it away Lottie…
Warrior 2 is a grounding posture, ideal for uncertain times like these. It aims to strengthen your legs and hips but will also help to refocus the mind and release stress.
Keep your feet firmly rooted to the ground and find length through your arms. Using your breath for guidance, inhale, lift up and stretch through the body and then exhale to settle back on to Warrior 2. Try adding a clap at the top if you want to get the little people involved.
Feel the ground or carpet under your feet and look down your front middle finger – when you team your breath with the movement, you’ll feel the strength and power of the posture. Don’t forget to breathe!
