Your Cheeky Weekend Checklist
Love is in the air and with our Muddy curated checklist, you'll be feeling amorous in no time.
Pack the kids off and get some Barry White on. It’s time to stoke that fire and bring on some va-va-voom with our suggestions for your perfect naughty weekend. Oooh errrr!
Enchanted Manor, Ventnor
If you want romance on a big fairytale scale then it’s got to be The Enchanted Manor on the southern part of the Isle of Wight. This place was designed with love in mind, and by “in mind”, I mean absolutely plastered everywhere. Cherubs, four-poster beds and little nooks and crannies stuffed silly with loving vibes. Some may say it’s OTT but we love it.
The Clarence Hotel, Portsmouth
An Edwardian townhouse, located right by the Southsea seafront, absolutely full to the brim with romantic decor, comfy king-sized beds with the odd sunken bath in the mix. What’s even better is it’s completely adults only so there won’t be any ankle-biters to ruin the mood.
Bel & the Dragon, Kingsclere
The Bel & the Dragon is a 15th-century coaching inn is located in the stunningly beautiful village of Kingsclere. Complete with exposed beams and open log fires, they also serve up a mean meal and the bedrooms are perfect for holing up for a few days.
BARS & RESTAURANTS
Shake things up with a few lusty cocktails at Southampton’s newest drinking hole, Olive. Here you can skip the beer-goggles and instead charm the pants off your company with a Silverback Negroni or Espresso Martini. Chin, chin!
Restaurant 27, Portsmouth
An undiscovered gem of romantic fine-dining, Restaurant 27 is perfectly located for a seaside walk and provides a minimum of eight courses to tempt you. Tuck into New Forest lamb and homemade charcoal bread and butter as you gaze adoringly into your other half’s eyes.
The Aviator Brasserie, Farnborough
The Aviator Hotel itself is a sight to behold. With modern sleek lines interspersed with a hint of old Hollywood Glamour, it’s the place to get yourself glammed up for a swoon-worthy evening. Choose from the Brasserie menu or really push the boat out (or should that be plane?) with a private dining experience. There’s even an on-site spa to get yourself blissed out beforehand.
Berry Brothers & Rudd
There’s wine and then there is wine. If you want to get something extra special for the weekend, then the experts at Berry Brothers & Rudd can help you with that. Stocking carefully chosen bottles of red, white, Champagne and sparkling wines, you can choose to push the boat out or even pick from their under £10 range which will outshine the supermarket stuff.
Test Valley Gin
Muddy award winner Test Valley Gin distils hand-crafted bottles right in our very own Hampshire countryside. As well as the signature Test Valley Gin, infused with thyme and basil, they also have a super special edition for Valentine’s Day that comes in a heart shaped bottle. Awwww!
If alcohol isn’t your bag then perhaps give Sea Arch a try for a luxe weekend mocktail. Crafted in Devon, with notes of the sea, this non-alcoholic alternative to gin has all the flavour without any of the booze.
Hidden Agenda, Botley
Carrying a huge range of underwear for any the occasion with absolutely excellent service, Hidden Agenda is a little hidden treasure in Botley. Experts in fitting, they also carry up to a 44 back and a K cup, and all the top brands from across the world.
Lymington Lingerie, Lymington
This brand new shop is getting pulses racing in the sleepy New Forest. Lymington Lingerie carries brands such as Lise Charmel, Fantasie, Passionata and more AND they also stock swimwear to keep that sexy, sleek look going all the way to the pool. Twit woo.
No 64. Biscuit House, Milford-on-Sea
We all love a bit of ambience and scented candles will always add to the mood. If you don’t fancy shelling out hundreds but still want an excellent amorous candle, then check out the ‘Paris Maps’ candle from No. 64′s stock. With scents of bergamot and rosewood with this 100% soy wax candle, you’ll be feeling all aglow.
Winchester Cocoa, Winchester
Chocolate is allegedly an aphrodisiac and even if not it certainly makes a lot of people happy. Winchester Cocoa is a local artisan chocolatier that carries a huge range of edible treats. It even stocks heart-shaped chocs in a heart-shape for extra lovey-dovey vibes and you can pick up a box from Toscanaccio in Winchester if you’re in a rush. Best get two boxes so you don’t have to share though.
Charlotte Cornelius Jewellery, Southsea
Nothing says ‘I love you’ like a bit of bespoke jewellery and Charlotte Cornelius is a Southsea based jeweller that creates incredible one of a kind pieces – whatever the budget. Taking commissions and walking people through the whole creation process, they also makes cufflinks, bracelets, necklaces and earrings as well as rings.
There’s no point of going away if you can’t get yourself all glammed up for the occasion. Stanwells has a boutique in Lymington where you can pick up something special to wear for your weekend dalliance and carries brands such as Muddy fave Madeline Thompson and Paul & Joe.
The Hampshire Florist, Chandlers Ford
