Soldier: An Exhibition by Robert Fitzmaurice, Sandham Memorial Chapel, Burghclere, Fri 8 Jun – Fri 6 Jul
Painting, printing and mixed media art considering the nature of the soldier from ancient times to the present day. The world-famous Sandham Memorial Chapel houses Sir Stanley Spencer’s epic series of large-scale murals depicting the first world war. There will also be a poetry and discussion event at 3pm on Sat 16 June when poet, Adrian Blamires joins Robert Fitzmaurice to consider the themes and influences of his programme alongside those found in the Spencer Chapel paintings.
The exhibition is open Wed – Fri 11.00-16.00 and Sat & Sun 11.00 – 17.00 Free entry. Usual admission to the chapel.

Hampshire Food Festival, throughout July
Calling all foodies. Launching this Saturday, a month-long celebration of Hampshire’s food and farming community. Expect everything from local produce pop-up dinners with James Durrant to Southampton Cocktail Week via English wine masterclasses with Berry Bros. & Rudd and butchery workshops at Newylns Farm Shop. Ibiza meets Hampshire for one night only, with headline DJ Dean Oram — fresh from Ministry of Sound, Ibiza and The Black Eyed Peas tour in Dubai — plus vocalist Errol Reid of 90s reggae outfit China Black. WOCKFEST is the brainchild of local chiropractor and thermographer, Elizabeth Bayliss, so help will be on hand if any of us over-enthusiuastic dancers do some damage *phewff*. So grab your glow sticks, daub on the UV paint and go large or go home… a short hop down the road. Amen to that.
