<p>Sunny days on the Isle of Wight beckon! Coming in hot from the owners of the iconic <a href="https://thehutcolwell.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hut at Colwell Bay</a>, Salty&#8217;s Pizzeria &amp; Bar is new this year in Yarmouth. And Superflashy&#8217;s so here for it. Opening &#8216;<em>pronto</em>&#8216; in Quay Street on 16 May &#8211; just a quick flit over the water from Lymington &#8211; the menu features antipasti and &#8216;not pizza&#8217; pasta and salad alongside the gourmet pizza selection. <p>What a view&#8230; A great reason to get a ticket to Ryde right now, top chef <a href="https://hants.muddystilettos.co.uk/life-2/people/chef-robert-thompson/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Robert Thompson</a> has pulled out all the stops on the new RT Cafe and Grill, housed in the historic Royal Maritime House. A casual, all day bistro-style affair, the menu features plenty of Island produce. Known for his foodie credentials, the Michelin-rated chef also plans to open his fine dining Thompson’s restaurant in the same building later this year.</p>

<p>What&#8217;s been going on in Alton? Confused locals have been flocking to social media for answers. Fortunately, Superflashy is pleased to confirm it isn&#8217;t actually the end of the world in the East Hampshire market town (currently on the Muddy list of <a href="https://hants.muddystilettos.co.uk/hants/best-places-to-live/hampshire-iow/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hampshire and the Isle of Wight&#8217;s most desirable locales</a>). </p>



<p>In reality, Alton has had a post-apocalyptic makeover for the filming of an upcoming Hollywood movie. A sequel to the 2020 film <em>Greenland</em>, this latest production, also starring Gerard Butler, is expected to be released in 2025.</p>



<p>Titled <em>Greenland: Migration</em>, the sequel is set after a comet has decimated earth. In it, the Garrity family are forced to embark on a perilous journey across what’s left of Europe to find a new home.</p>

<p>Congratulations to Hayley Elston of <a href="https://fabcatchco.co.uk/product/crabulous-crabcakes/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Fabulous Catch Company</a>! Getting her zero-waste crabcakes under the steely eyes (and forks) of the buyers as part of Channel 4 series ‘Aldi’s Next Big Thing’, Hayley fought off competition from hundreds of makers and won a coveted contract to stock Aldi stores nationwide.   </p>



<p>Previously supplying local farmer’s markets and farm shops, the Crabulous Crabcakes story began in 2012 when Hayley was asked to help a group of fishermen on the Isle of Wight sell their leftover brown crab, combining it with an evidently winning blend of leeks, chilli, fresh parsley and lemon juice. Tasty. </p>

<p>The trendy Thai chain has seen some serious expansion over the last few years.  It now has a sizeable portfolio of 21 prettily decked out restaurants, including one by the Cathedral in Winchester. Next on the agenda for Hampshire is a new site by the water in Portsmouth&#8217;s Gunwharf Quays, formerly Loch Fyne. The burning question is, of course, when those tasty starters arrive, will Superflashy be prepared to share? Doubtful.</p>

<p>Shiver me timbers! Staying in Portsmouth, Southsea&#8217;s pirate-themed rum bar Rapscallions has just dropped anchor in Port Solent. Similar to its Southsea counterpart, landlubbers and seafarers can expect a mix of grog, grub and smoking cocktails. </p>

<p>On the subject of local watering holes, craft beer fans will be delighted to learn that local producer Vibrant Forest Brewery will be serving up its premium wares at the new <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61557887090115" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vibrant Taproom in Lyndhurst</a>. The jury&#8217;s out on the Cucumber &amp; Mint Sour but the Hazy Pale Ale has Superflashy&#8217;s name written all over it.</p>
