It's a good job I'm a bit nosey because there is *SO* much happening right now and I have just got to tell you all about it.
Shiny Hotel Awards Alert!
So, The Sunday Times have announced their 100 Top British Hotels this week and would you believe it? Hampshire has really set the bar high (sorry rest of the country!)
With Heckfield Place scooping the top award of Hotel of the Year and other establishments such as the Spot In The Woods, Lime Wood, Chewton Glen and Southampton Harbour, making the list – Hampshire really is the place to be.
The Real Eating Company is mixing eco-consciousness with coffee and style (two of my favourite things – hoorah!) The company has an outlet in Portsmouth’s Gunwharf Quays, but has just launched its very own, fully compostable takeaway cups. Each one will biodegrade and not leave any icky leftovers in a landfill. They are also festooned with a fabulous sketch of where you bought your coffee from so you can represent your ‘hood in style.
Super Fine Dining
The Ivy’s swish new private dining room has just opened in Winchester and boy, are we excited. I mean just look at it – it’s amazing! It will seat up to 24 or 40 for drinks and canapés, and The Ivy’s signature style of amazing food and drink it’s on our must-visit list for sure.
Brand Spanking New Coffee Shop
We love Coffee Lab here at Muddy. Not only does this groovy indie have the most amazing flat whites (absolutely necessary for survival), but their latte art has won awards and their chilled vibe is replicated across their locations.
Fancy it? Well, if you’re around Southampton you’re in luck. The team have just opened their latest outlet in Bargate and it’s huge. Expect amazing coffee, breakfast, brunch plus a whole load of vegan and gluten-free food.
Get those dancing shoes on
We’ve got it on good authority that independent Portsmouth’s Staggeringly Good Brewery have big things a-brewing (and no, it’s not the craft beer).
The dino-centric beer biz has been working on a sneaky little crowdfunding plan to open its very own music venue next door to its current site in Fratton. This hidden gem of a pub/microbrewery is filled with velociraptors and fabulously handcrafted booze. There are already open mic and music nights and we think that this is going to make a brilliant spot for a shindig or sneaky gig. Watch this space.
