Is that the dinner gong? After six series, five Christmas specials and two films &#8220;the time has come to say goodbye.&#8221; The final Downton Abbey feature film has been announced as September 12 featuring Hampshire&#8217;s Highclere Castle, the real-life filming location. And the new trailer for &#8216;Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale&#8216; suggests we&#8217;re in for an emotional farewell.

Long-time cast members Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael and Jim Carter will return for the new film. Also back are Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier and Joanne Froggatt. The Crown&#8217;s Dominic West returns as silent movie star, Guy Dexter. And Oscar-nominee Paul Giamatti will reprise his past role as Harold Levinson, the brother of the Countess of Grantham.

Downton Abbey The Grand Finale will feature some familiar new faces too, including Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale and Arty Froushan.

Best known for its starring role in Downton Abbey, Highclere has also been a filming location for the TV series&nbsp;Jeeves and Wooster&nbsp;and Evelyn Waugh’s&nbsp;A Handful of Dust. 



In the hit TV and film series, the Downton Abbey estate is set in Yorkshire and home to the fictional Crawley family. The real life inhabitants of Hampshire&#8217;s magnificent 17th Century Highclere castle are the 8th Earl of Carnarvon and the Countess of Carnarvon. 



Fans of Downton Abbey are sure to recognise Highclere&#8217;s grand state rooms from their countless appearences in the show. The estate also has 1,000 acres of parkland and glorious Capability Brown-designed gardens. In the old staff quarters, Highclere&#8217;s Egyptian Exhibition celebrates the 5th Earl of Carnarvon&#8217;s discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun.
