A boutique cider brand based in the North Hampshire village of Herriard, near Basingstoke, Hydes is something of an accidental producer.

Having moved to a farmhouse here, Philip and Lucy Lundberg hadn’t thought too much about the mini orchard that came with their new home – until they saw how many apples the mature trees at the bottom of the garden were yielding and began pressing them as a hobby.

Fast forward to 2023 and the first bottles of Hydes Cyder, a delicious, naturally fermented lightly carbonated drink rolled off the bottling line. Handily for the non-drinkers, they’ve also launched Hydes Lyte 0.5%. (Order a case from their online shop with a free click and collect option).

Making the most of the following they’ve already generated at tasting events around the county, the family producer went on to cut the ribbon on their Hydes Cyder taproom event venue this summer – and recently announced a whole basket load of events, including a hands-on Introduction to Cider Making Course on Saturday 9 November. Hydes will also be at the Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market with bottles and gift packs.
