Wildlife, wildflowers and beauty spots are joyful to behold. Through our own eyes or on canvas, such scenes can be incredibly uplifting.

Representing a large selection of fantastic artists from around the UK, Ytene Gallery in Brockenhurst is a go-to for a brilliantly curated, contemporary British art selection. Many of the works are inspired by beauty spots, nature and our wonderful coastline.

Passionate and highly knowledgeable, art-lover Helen Westbrooke bought the New Forest’s Lyndhurst Gallery in April 2014. In 2016, she relocated to Brockenhurst and changed its name to Ytene Gallery. Ytene was chosen for its historical significance to the area. Pronounced ‘Ettin’, it was the ancient name for the New Forest. (Before William the Conqueror rode in around 1079 and named it Nova Foresta…).

Helen started her varied career in fine art and antiques, going on to work for investment banks. She’s also travelled around the world as crew on board luxury Superyachts (tough gig). The friendly gallery owner then settled on the South Coast with her husband and two sons and returned to her earlier passion.

Regardless of whether you know your Pollock from your Picasso, if you’re visiting the area or live nearby, make an appointment to stop by and explore the wonderful range of art on display. If you have something special in mind, Helen can source work or arrange a commission. If you’re a visitor to the area, a piece by one of Ytene Gallery’s featured artists could prove to be a wonderful and enduring souvenir. Unique and meaningful, it’s sure to be the focal point of any room, and make a lasting talking point to enjoy every day.
