The White Hart, Overton

A characterful inn with rooms and modern dining at the crossroads of this North Hampshire village.

Full of historic charm with food, drink and comfortable rooms that will appeal to modern tastes, the White Hart is a classic country pub in the charming and very well-connected village of Overton, located between Basingstoke and Winchester.

Built in 1442 and the oldest pub in the village, the Grade II-listed former coaching inn is part of the Upham Inns group and a real social hub for locals and visitors with a sizable menu of brunches, tapas, steak and other pub classics, along with a very tasty Sunday Roast.

Upstairs, the historic Inn has 12 individually designed ensuite bedrooms, an ideal base nearby Basingstoke and as a weekend stopover to explore Overton and beyond.

Just down the road from The White Hart, the Bombay Sapphire Distillery at the iconic Laverstoke Mill is a great place to learn all about botanicals and sample a tasty cocktail. Also close by, the Victorian Whitchurch Silk Mill and the ruins of the once great Odiham Castle are well worth exploring. And if you’ve kids in-tow, Manydown Family Fun has animal handling, crazy golf, adventure play and tractors rides.

Very pet-friendly, The White Hart always has a warm welcome for visiting dogs. Book ahead for a dog-friendly room (supplement applies). And in the pub, they can dine from Sir Woofchester’s canine menu, including full dinner bowls, chews and lollipups, dog-friendly ice cream and even alcohol-free dog beer.
