Velvet & Rose is a women’s boutique in Petersfield, run by Shirley Leader and her team of fashion-loving ladies. Well known in the market town for her friendly service, regulars stop by for advice on occasion outfits, update their everyday wardrobe, pick up a payday treat – and sometimes just nip in for a cuppa and a sneaky peek at Shirley’s new fashion picks.

Opened in March 2018 on Chapel Street, a stone’s throw from the many other popular, specialist independent shops along Lavant Street, you can also reach Velvet & Rose through the sweet Bakery Lane walkway. On the rails are a carefully selected pick of British and international brands, chosen for style, quality and a touch of glam.

Shirley also has a popular online shop and social channels, often featuring herself and a few willing customers modelling new favourites. A few current favourite lines in the shop include Eleven Loves, previously called Love, Sweat & Tees. Knitwear, sweaters and tees are ethically and sustainably made using organic or recycled materials.

Danish brand Black Colour cardigans are popular, as well as a recently added selection of jewellery, designed in the North East by Tutti & Co. Look out too for Shirley’s growing selection of Velvet & Rose picks, from everyday knits, tops and joggers to a gorgeous line of floral pyjamas.

A proud independent, Shirley has featured on the BBC news, in national newspapers and in the fashion press. The shop has also been a finalist in the Drapers Awards (2019 & 2020), the 2019 Petersfield Awards and the 2019 and 2022 Muddy Stilettos Awards – look out for her in 2023!
