A charming British pub in the scenic village of Bighton just outside Alresford, The Three Horseshoes is a much-loved community local and hidden gem of a gastropub within easy striking distance of Winchester.
The historic, Grade II-listed pub dates from the 18th century. Inside, there’s bags of cosy original interiors including a characterful bar and inglenook fireplace with wood burner. Outside, the sun-dappled courtyard and pub garden overlooks beautiful Hampshire countryside. An idyllic meeting place for long, lazy lunches with friends and family – with a warm welcome for children and dogs.
Under the new stewardship of seasoned managers Aline and Matheus and their friendly team since spring 2025, The Three Horseshoes has earned rave reviews from guests. It’s a la carte menu of British pub classics includes steak, fish and chips, crispy whitebait and gourmet burgers alongside modern British and European-influenced dishes such as lamb with spiced aubergine purée, wild bass ceviché, and cassoulet.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a quintessential Hampshire country village pub without a slap-up Sunday roast. The Three Horseshoes’ is a goodie. Pork, beef, chicken and veggie options come served with all the trimmings, with a choice of tempting starters and puds.
