The Red Lion, Odiham
Muddy says: The Red Lion Odiham in a nutshell? A convivial, relaxed, family-friendly pub with characterful rooms and hearty plates of local comfort food.
Regular or visitor, The Red Lion does hospitality brilliantly, from its clean-as-a-whistle, characterful rooms to its enthusiastic staff and great grub. In 2017 it got a facelift worthy of Joan Rivers and, fast forward a few years, and it still feels fresh.
The rooms are airy and inviting; think soaring beams, posh ESPA smellies and deep pillows – perfect for a night à deux. If you want to bring children they’re very well catered for with travel cots, Child’s Farm wash goodies and toys to borrow plus plenty of friendly smiles. Pooches too are also very welcome for just a small supplement (£15).
The food is dig-in-and-eat good with impeccable local provenance all served by friendly, intelligent staff who know a good Rioja when they see it.
Lots to do in buzzy Odiham, from a browse in the local antiques shop and boutiques like Libelula to crepes from the super-cute Le Creperie French café just over the road. Basingstoke Canal is an easy five minute walk away, with miles of off-road cycling, boating and, of course, walking. The beautiful Vyne National Trust property is a short 20 minutes’ drive away.
