The Briny, Portsmouth

Muddy says: Fish and chips with added glamour. The Briny, situated right on Southsea’s seafront, takes casual seafood dining to the next level.

Fish and chips by the sea is an absolute British institution. However, we definitely prefer eating ours indoors and with a touch of added… pizazz. Which is precisely why we absolutely love The Briny on Southsea seafront.

Taking the humble cod to the next level, and with surroundings that wouldn’t look out of place in an interior design magazine, this is THE place to enjoy a seafood feast with a fabulous view over the Solent.

Family-run and super family friendly, The Briny has seaside vibes in spring and summer and a cosy hygge feel in autumn and winter. Serving up everything from breakfast right through to dinner with cocktails, diners can tuck into all kinds of seasonal dishes, from beef & oyster pie served with marmite butter and Moules of the Day. Yep, my mouth is watering too…

Look out for special foodie offers and events like Jazz Sunday brunches in the winter months for a lively atmosphere, cocktails and always delicious dishes. A tasty midweek treat, every Wednesday from 15 January to 26 March 2025 (12 noon – 2.30pm and 6pm-8.15pm), the restaurant is serving up unlimited mussels for just £20 per head.

Feeling hungry yet? Grab the family or some girlfriends and head here for a seaside meal that will treat all the senses with sea air, seafood and sea views.
