The Tenth Hole, Portsmouth
Muddy says: A Pompey institution. Nowhere is more legendary for a slab of cake and good company than The Tenth Hole. Forks at the ready!
A worthy winner of the 2024 Muddy Award for Best Café, speak to anybody from Portsmouth about where to get the best cake in the world and no doubt The Tenth Hole will get mentioned. Less about golf (though you can go for a little putt here), this place is more about fantastic cake, excellent food and a brilliant cosy atmosphere. It’s an absolute go-to for any celebration or, well, just because you fancy a little treat.
We love the fact that during the summer, you can sit outside with some of the legendary Strawberry & Cream Sponge. Then, in winter, you can cosy up with some luxe hot chocolate. This is a place for all seasons with a quirky indoor area that’s full of little nooks and a cake counter of your dreams. Honestly, I dream about the displays on offer there.
As well as the famous cakes, it also does a mean brunch and lunch. Seriously, their mac ‘n’ cheese is legendary. So, grab your bestie for a cuppa and a catch-up, take your mum and dad for a slice of something nice (and they may even pay, woohoo!) or win mega brownie points with your small people by treating them to something naughty.
