Stanwells, Lymington and Westbourne

Bang-on-trend haute couture from an independent high street boutique? Say hello to Stanwells!

Selecting the hottest picks from UK and international designer brands, Stanwells is, quite frankly, fashionista heaven – without all the pouty faces.

The indie boutique first opened in 1996 in the smart, picture-perfect Georgian market town of Lymington, a South Coast yachtie haven. It went on to launch a second store in Westbourne near Bournemouth and win a string of awards for its oh-so-wearable fashion-forward couture.

Owner Julia Aitken is constantly evolving Stanwells’ assortment of inspiring labels, updating and adding lines in the online shop too so that the buying experience mirrors that of the inspiring in-store offer.

The ever-growing mix includes internationally-sourced brands like as Essentiel Antwerp, Dea Kudibal and Vince along with cool accessories like Jerome Dreyfuss handbags. If stilettos are a challenge on Lymington’s cobbled streets, Golden Goose trainers bring a paired-down, contemporary vibe to traditional-yet-feminine pieces like the latest Smythe coat. Oh, and did we mention Stanwells also stocks exotically gorgeous Emma Shipley candles, housed in mantlepiece-worthy decorative Chinoiserie-esque ceramic pots?

Word to the streetwise: catwalks trends and designer brands are covered in detail on Stanwells’ knowledgeable style blog. Just like Stanwells itself, it’s a great source of fashion intel when you’re thinking ahead to the new season.
