The Montagu Arms Hotel
Muddy says: Countryside side charm with added glamour, The Montagu Arms Hotel in Beaulieu offers guests top-quality foodie kudos along with its picture-postcard location.
The quintessential English escape. The Montagu Arms is a country homestead located in Beaulieu with its 22 beautifully-appointed rooms in the hotel and two brand new Hayloft suites. If you’re lucky, you may even see the odd New Forest Pony or two clip-clopping by.
Each room in the hotel comes uniquely decorated, with Nina Campbell fabrics, Zoffany wallpapers, Nespresso machines and bespoke beds hand-crafted in nearby Millbrook.
The Hayloft suites have beautiful wood-panelling plus a complimentary snifter (ok, a decanter-full) of seasonal gin.
The one thing that strikes guests is that every room at The Montagu is totally unique and comes with its own distinct personality and charm. With fresh flowers every day and all the little touches that elevate it from your typical country getaway to something super luxurious and special. As you explore the hotel you’ll also find hidden nooks and spots that ooze character of this glorious 18th-century building.
The hotel also comes with some heavy clout in the foodie stakes as well. Recently hired Head Chef Matthew Whitfield was, until recently, at the three-Michelin Star Eleven Madison Park in New York – voted The World’s Best Restaurant in 2017. The Hampshire-born Matthew can be found serving up diners at The Terrace with his British-inspired dishes. We definitely see Stars for Hampshire on the horizon!
For something a little more relaxed, the hotel also has its very own country pub, Monty’s Inn.
If you absolutely love the place (and of course you will!) you can even hire it out for your nuptials, with room for 90 guests at a civil ceremony and wedding breakfast and 150 for an evening reception. And, if you really want to go for it, you can even hire out the entire hotel for exclusive use with all 22 bedrooms for your guests.
