(Contact the team to take a look around).
Built around 1832 by Lt Colonel Edward Buckley (first Equerry to the Royal Household), the grand Minstead Lodge was once home to a physician to Queen Victoria, along with other notable families.
In 1974 the estate was bought by Tim Selwood, who also owned Furzey Gardens. The philanthropist began setting up opportunities for five or six people with learning disabilities to come and work in the gardens.
As this work grew, Minstead Lodge became the home of the Minstead Trust, formerly established in 1986. The charity provides training in hospitality and catering for people with learning disabilities, including Minstead Lodge, where they tend the Victorian walled vegetable garden, growing fresh seasonal vegetables for conference lunches.
As a social enterprise, proceeds from events at Minstead Lodge help support the important work of The Minstead Trust which today supports more than 300 people with learning disabilities throughout Hampshire, helping them build skills to help find employment and live more independent and fulfilled lives.
Not planning a special occasion – but fancy a visit anyway? Look out for other Minstead Lodge events including afternoon tea from just £15pp.
