Nice drink, excellent food and a lovely view – what else could you ask for? For a place that has those three things in abundance, then The Mill Inn, Gordleton is definitely worth stopping at. This gorgeous little traditional inn located on the edge of the River Avon is the perfect New Forest hideaway for a drink, meal or stay. It’s also just had a full lockdown refurb inside and out. When it reopened in Spring 2021 it had a fresh look and plenty of bookings from eager fans keen to snag a sunny table.

The menu at The Mill Inn features plenty of local produce, like utterly delicious Laverstoke Park mozzarella and South Coast haddock. There’s also terrific Mediterranean-influenced dishes and platters too, perfect for enjoying on the sunny riverside terrace.

In the know: Don’t just come for dinner – why not book a stay at one of the Mill Inn’s 12 beautifully-appointed boutique rooms? There are eight in the main house and four in the separate Mill House, located next door. Mill House bedrooms can be booked individually or used by larger families and groups wanting a self-contained space for themselves. Muddy’s packing our weekender bags now…
