LOUNGERS, TEST VALLEY
Oh-so-comfy and smart enough to nip out in – we’re ditching the joggers and switching to a pair of Loungers, pronto. Kids or partner want a pair too? Kit them all out with a choice of family styles.
Top of our lounge clothes buying criteria right now? Comfort, sustainability and doorstep delivery. Ticking all the boxes – super-soft, super-comfortable ‘Loungers’. Stylish, well-made and supports a local business? Loving that too.
Set up by Test Valley friends Karen and Deborah in 2020, the online shop is based in the chocolate-box village of Nether Wallop, Hampshire. Designs are regularly refreshed but always feature a signature button on the back with the firm’s design mantra “feel good, do good”.
Part of the growing movement away from fast-fashion, Loungers are made to last. Sustainability is very much part of the brand ethos and considered in all areas of the design.
The super-soft brushed-cotton used to make the lounge trousers is sourced from an eco-conscious family-run business in Portugal. The cotton used is Global Organic Textile Standard Certified and grown without the use of synthetic fertilisers or toxic pesticides. It also meets social standards recommended by the International Labour Organisation.
Rather than plastic, statement back-pocket buttons are made from a natural, sustainable plant material, helping farmers from the Ecuador rain forests. Labels are made from recycled cotton fibres and contain wildflower seeds – with a sweet “grow me, don’t throw me” message.
When they do need a refresh, Loungers will find their old trousers a new home. The company has an upcycling partnership with Kenya Lacrosse, a charity set up to support underprivileged African athletes with life-mentoring, health screening, essential food, water, basic necessities and help to fund education.
