Ask the lucky Hampshire locals living near one and they’ll rave about Hoxton Bakehouse’s heavenly fresh-baked croissants, caramel brownies and signature sourdough. Oh, and then there’s the cinnamon buns that are so addictive you’d better hope you don’t have to pass by the place every morning on the school run.
Of course, great pastries need a great cup of joe to go with them. A piping-hot cup fabulous freshly-brewed coffee from Winchester-based River Coffee Roasters is what’s on offer, adding to the aromatic scents already wafting around the bakehouse.
The Hoxton Bakehouse chain was started by Florence Hellier and her husband Darren Bland on a shoestring budget in February 2014, following their move to Lymington.
Locals loved the fabulous bakes – and loads of Hampshire cafes and restaurants did too – including the likes of The Pig, Angela Hartnett’s Lime Wood, Chewton Glen, Four Seasons, the River Cottage and The Greyhound on the Test, with many of the 60-plus eateries they supply citing Hoxton Bakehouse by name on their menus.
New shops in Bishops Waltham and Petersfield opened their doors in Autumn 2020, bringing a fresh set of loyal followers for the chain and its signature sourdough and other moreish morning bakes.
Stuck indoors? Panic not – Hoxton Bakehouse does doorstep deliveries from a box of buns to a full blow-out treat box packed with a country sourdough loaf, seeded wheat sourdough, Lyburn cheese, Ground River coffee, free range eggs, apple bun, mocha bun, cinnamon bun, lemon and raspberry bun, marmalade, chutney, raspberry and vanilla jam. And just like that, the weekend is saved.
