Gorilla Spirits

Like gin? Like ethical products? Then check out the fantastic range of spirits from small-batch producer Gorilla Spirits. Here you can pick up a bottle of award-winning tipple AND save the world at the same time. Hoorah!

The Gorilla Sprits Co. was set up by Andy Daniels and launched its first product, Silverback Mountain Strength Gin back in 2015. When creating that first tipple the Hampshire distillery went through over 100 different recipes to find “the one” and it certainly paid off, with the gin scooping numerous national and international awards. What’s even better, the company was founded not only to create an amazing range of top-drawer spirits but to be totally ethical as well. Definitely a drink to make you think!

Since that first launch, they’ve gone on to create a number of other rather fabulous concoctions including; Silver Back Old Tom Gin, Blackback Mountain Strength Vodka, Maraba Coffee Liqueur and the distillery also launched a limited edition Silverback Raspberry Gin for this year’s World Gin Day.

Gorilla SpiritsThe spirits are all produced in the Upton Grey distillery in its copper still, nicknamed Mugwaneza (which means “she who is content” in Kinrwandan) and every bottle they produce comes with a GAT (Gorilla Added Tax), with £1 of every bottle sold going directly to The Gorilla Organization in order to help protect gorillas from extinction.

The original Silverback Mountain Strength is distilled with a range of botanicals including Juniper, Coriander, Angelica, Sweet Orange, Calamus Root, Acacia Blossom and Lemongrass, giving it a real modern, fresh twist on gin.

As well as making and creating the spirits Gorilla Spirits also offer distillery tours of the Upton Grey operation (with tastings, of course!) and has also launched its very own Gin School where you can create your very own spirit under the expert guidance of the team.
