The ultimate seaside retreat? This luxe 7-bedroom house in the village of Freshwater in the stunning West Isle of Wight is certainly up there. Perfect for groups of friends or family (including dogs!), the spacious house is a former hotel that’s been superbly furnished with characterful interiors by global designer, Andrew Martin.
Just three miles away from its sister property, The George Hotel in Yarmouth, Freshwater House is just a stone’s throw away from the spectacular Freshwater Bay. Photographers and walkers will find beautiful walks and gorgeous scenery galore, including the Tennyson down monument, one of the highest vantage points on the island. Also nearby, kids will love a trip to The Needles or the brilliant Tapnell Farm Park and there’s more beautiful beaches and dining to the North at Colwell Bay.
Upstairs, Freshwater House has seven comfy bedrooms. Two are king-size masters with a further four double bedrooms and one twin. Six are ensuite bathrooms and the twin bedroom has a large family bathroom directly next door, meaning privacy for everyone and no waiting around in the morning.
Downstairs, the central Drawing Room is a brilliant spot to come together and relax with large vaulted ceilings, deep oversized sofas and a private bar. The room opens to the sundeck through French doors where there are more outside dining facilities ideal for BBQs.
If you’re breakfasting or having supper indoors, the characterful Dining Room at Freshwater House seats 16 people with statement aluminium ship lamps above the large wooden table making quite the centrepiece. And if you’re here with kids and teens, The Snug off the Dining Room has laid-back seating and a 74” TV- ideal for giving them there own space while keeping them entertained within earshot.
The chefs of the group will be well at home in Freshwater House with its modern, well-equipped kitchen, Gaggenau ovens and large Gaggenau hob. There is also plenty of fridge and freezer space, a champagne and wine cooler fridge and Quooker tap for instant boiling water and purified cold drinking water. After a trip to the beach, the ground floor Utility Room has a washing machine and tumble drier with drying racks and plenty of hanging space.
Outside, there’s plenty of garden space in the upper sun deck, the lower dining terrace and a small grassed lawn, as well as off road parking for at least 6 cars and two electric car charging points.
