Home office a bit sad and cluttered? Don’t despair – cheer it up with indie retailer BluBambu’s Scandi-style reclaimed furniture, stylish storage, cool candles and aesthetically-uplifting art. Look out credit card, we’re going in…
BluBambu’s reclaimed furniture and curated home accessories can be summed up in a single word: covetable.
Director David Littlewood and his wife love the way makers in Asia managed to breathe new life into reclaimed materials and create one-off, eco-friendlier furniture. After a few years living in Asia and exploring Indonesia, they created a retail offer that combined blue waters of their South Coast home with the paired-back, reclaimed pieces they admired in Asia, encapsulated in the name Blue Bamboo (or, more snappily, BluBambu – geddit?).
Staying true to their original vision, the offer has continued to evolve in a good direction: think sustainably crafted, reclaimed teak furniture, a carefully curated mix of Scandi-inspired accessories and contemporary coastal homewares and a good range of pieces handcrafted from reclaimed materials by skilled artisans.
Love the modern-rustic interiors look? This might just be your retail nirvana. Paired-back signature lines include d-Bodhi (BluBambu is the only UK retailer of this eco-conscious furniture company from Indonesia) and best-seller Shelfmate, a flexible, modular wall display great for uncluttering tricky corners.
Then there’s the didn’t-know-you-needed-them-but-turns-out-you-did Blomus Scented Candles in cool-coloured, concrete pots: an instant, spa-scented bathroom uplift.
In the Lymington shop, Liga Love Eco Living coastal inspired tableware and Lucky Lobster Art from a small, independent artist are like a deep lungful of sea air for the home, especially Lucky Lobster’s ‘Dog + Beach = Happy’ – never a truer word! Online, there’s gorgeous House Doctor accessories from Denmark with a rustic, Scandi vibe along with a recent gourmet addition, Nicholas Vahé, with foodie products like organic bread mix, pickled beetroot & horseradish salt mix and cucumber vinegar – very umami.
