Liz Earle is one very busy lady. Not content with just being the UK’s First Lady of Wellbeing, she is a serial entrepreneur, presenter, bestselling author as well as a mum of five kids. *Phew!* We caught up with Hampshire-born Liz to find out exactly how she does it all…

Hi Liz! For many people, a busy lifestyle often gets in the way of addressing their wellbeing. What top tips would you give to those who are time poor to look after themselves?

Focus on your diet. I truly believe that health and wellbeing go hand-in hand with eating well – how we fuel ourselves impacts on our wellbeing as-a-whole and it’s important to recognise this. Try to embrace seasonal, local, organic produce where possible and always aim for lots of fresh veg!

As you mentioned, diet obviously plays a huge part in wellbeing. Do you have any other suggestions for diet changes people can make that would make a big impact on their overall health?

Good gut health has the power to totally transform the way we look and feel and by making a step in the right direction, through a daily dose of probiotics, you can make a real difference to your overall health and wellbeing. Start by making one small change to your diet and adding in some probiotics in the form of plain live yoghurt or fermented foods such as kefir.

Equally, you often talk about balance and moderation within lifestyle. What things do you have to treat yourself?

berries-chocolates-delicious-918328 My guilty (and rare!) pleasure is probably a lie-in with the weekend papers – as well as the odd piece of dark chocolate!

You’ve written over 35 books, run numerous successful ventures and are also a mum to five kids. What would you say are the key things you do to maintain your own wellbeing while having such a busy lifestyle?

I live on a farm in the glorious West Country so I really enjoy the chance to make the most of family time outdoors at home. I love picnics, farm walks, hedgerow foraging – very simple, yet very special, relaxing family times that make for happy memories.

What’s your favourite part of your week?

My week is split into two based on my location – London and the West Country – and I love both parts! At home on my pasture-fed organic farm in the West Country I’m surrounded by my family and I do much of my writing on the farm, including the writing for my recently published eguide The Truth about HRT. In London, I’m based at the Liz Earle Wellbeing magazine studios, where I’m either working with the team on the magazine or interviewing guests for my weekly podcast Wellness with Liz Earle.

What are your handbag must-haves?

A mineral sunblock, that I use year-round and which sits on the surface of the skin and reflects the sun’s rays and lanolin, which is an inexpensive, safe and incredibly versatile skin soother that I like to use as a lip balm.

The Isle of Wight has obviously been a key location for you in the past (note – Liz is no longer connected to the Liz Earle Beauty Company, which is headquartered on the Isle of Wight). Where are some of your favourite spots?

The Ventnor Botanic Gardens with their rich heritage of health and wellbeing are a firm favourite. I particularly love the various secret gardens that are hidden away off the beaten track and you can’t beat the clifftop meadows with breath-taking views of the coastline.

What’s next for you? Do you have any new projects or plans coming up?

My current focus is Liz Earle Wellbeing, my bi-monthly digital and print magazine published by Hearst. We’ve recently gone global!
