Off to the Island we go with this gorgeous Regency period home in Bembridge. It's got plenty of chocolate box charm AND Oscar connections but, the big question is, how much does it cost?
Nothing I love more than a little nosey around a house. And here’s a gorgeous new Property Flirt to get your house-hunting juices going.
Take a look at the pics below, and I’ll give you some info about the property, then guess the price and claim your £1000 instant prize (I’m making that last bit up, just do it for the glory).
This little cutie is located right in the heart of Bembridge village, tucked away on the eastern tip of the Isle of Wight. The village is a gorgeous slice of Island life, located right on the water and even boasts the title of ‘Village of the Year’ – as voted in the BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards 2019.
There’s plenty of quirky independent spots around the village and has three beaches for locals to choose from. Schoolswise, despite its leafy rural vibes, it’s not too far from Ryde where Ryde School with Upper Chine is located, along with easy access to the mainland via Hovercraft or Fast Cat.
The Regency style property comes with five bedrooms and three bathrooms, along with plenty of space for several cars on its gravelled driveway.
It’s got quite a bit of history to it as well. The Grade II listed building was once the home of Oscar-winning actor, David Niven (Casino Royale and The Pink Panther) and the hallway is decked out with exposed “Greenhart” beams that were originally part of Ryde Pier.
The kitchen comes with a gorgeous gas Aga and handmade fitted units from super chic kitchen crafters, Smallbone of Devizes. Don’t panic if that all seems a bit old school, there’s also plenty of mod cons with a fitted dishwasher and separate electric oven as well.
There’s a rather impressive garden room to the rear of the house and is makes the perfect spot for curling up with a cup of tea and a book. The five bedrooms are split across the upper floor of the house and in a separate rear wing off the kitchen for plenty of privacy (and easy access for midnight snacks!)
The master bedroom comes with its own en suite AND a dressing room, along with a pretty substantial amount of fitted wardrobe space as well. So, if you’re a person who loves their clothes, you’re not going to struggle for space in this house. In fact, we’d actively encourage buying more.
One of the great things about the Wight is its unique climate and nowhere is this more obvious than the superb – and very secluded – garden. With a patio for entertaining and plenty of quiet leafy spots for sunning yourself in, this is a garden that even Alan Titchmarsh would be jealous of.
Gotta good feel for it? Then tot up your numbers and have a punt. Guess within £50k and you can hold the title as Queen of the Wight.
