Blast from the past

Fancy adding something pretty unique to your home? Then why not check out one of these awesome local retro bazaars to get the goods.

There’s plenty of places to pick up replica items from days gone by, but to be honest, there’s nothing quite like the real thing is there?

Whether you identify yourself as a modern Disco Queen or have a penchant for all that 50s glamour, take a look at these four spots around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to kit your home out in retro chic.

Hillfield Trading, Portsmouth

Missing Chopper Signage Hillfield Trading PortsmouthThis little Aladdin’s Cave is stuffed with a mixture of local traders and antique gems. There’s retro cameras galore, old school record players and enough kitsch furniture to kit out the entire 70s.

One absolute delight is the selection of neon signage designed by local creative, Nina Burras aka Missing Chopper. Based on Hayling Island she creates bespoke lighting that’s somewhere between Vegas glam and Fairground chic.

Molly’s Den, Winchester

Retro furniture seats

Winchester’s hot spot for old-school homewares has to be Molly’s Den. And there’s a huge range of vintage clothing to boot.

Even if you’re not in the market for anything in particular, this is the ideal place to lose an hour or two rifling through the items. The place is so big there’s even a cafe on site to grab a coffee while you decide what to take home with you.

The Consortium, Romsey

This adorable little boutique in Romsey town has some super simple, but utterly gorgeous, home bits and pieces.

Along with their sister shop in Winchester, here you can find that quirky 60s chair for your living room or an industrial-vibed metal sideboard to liven up your hallway. They’ve also got some fab acrylic box neon lights to brighten up any household and some really unusual little extras.

Isle of Style, Isle of Wight

interiors shop with bright retro furniture and lighting

They have absolute bags of style over on the island and The Isle of Style is an absolute testament to this. Their selection of carefully picked items includes items such as Americana-style diner lights, vintage shop signage and even retro bread bins. Every room gets the Style-treatment from these guys and there’s no need to hop on the ferry as they sell everything online.
