<p>Café by day, cosy restaurant by night, The Greenhouse in Fleet serves up veggie and vegan-friendly fare. The daytime menu includes organically-roasted coffee, cake sandwiches, soups and salads. Come the evening, meat-free burgers and curries of all descriptions sell-out fast on the specials board. </p>

<p>Moved to the Albert Road in 2023, the well-established and critic-approved plant-based café Offbeet makes a great fit for Southsea. On the local and internationally-inspired menu are imaginative all-day brunches like New Forest mushroom French toast, Indian crepes and Korean BBQ beef.</p>

<p>Interpreting exotic dishes and flavours from all over the Indian subcontinent, Késarum is a modern vegan restaurant and bar in the city centre – a tasty travel experience without leaving Hampshire. Right on Southampton’s ‘QE2 mile’, it’s housed inside a grade II-listed former bank and regularly gets rave reviews from diners for its plant-based fine dining. Seasonal menus concentrate on different regions with helpful drink pairings.</p>

<p>Come for a walk in this beautiful stretch of the South Downs and make a pit stop at the Beech Café. Part of a 55-acre Sustainability Centre, everything it dishes up (veggie and vegan) is homemade. Fruit and veg is grown on-site by the Fitzroy Group, a local charity supporting people with learning disabilities. The coffee is tasty and organic, Fairtrade Foundation and Rainforest Alliance approved, ticking all the right sustainability boxes.</p>

<p>Perched above the Palm Garden, The Plantation Room Café is a seriously lovely spot where the setting does much of the talking. It’s not strictly vegetarian or vegan but plant-based eaters are well catered for with a menu weighted firmly in their favour, including thoughtful dishes such as Isle of Wight tomatoes on toasted sourdough, warm goat’s cheese bruschetta with honey and almonds and a comforting green lentil and spinach dahl. </p>



<p>Add barista coffee, a sunny terrace overlooking rare and exotic planting, resident robins and the distant sound of the sea and you’ve got a relaxed, vegetarian-friendly café that feels calm, generous and quietly special.</p>
