Is your favourite local restaurant on the list?

The list of Michelin star winners, that is. The prestigious 2020 awards have just been announced - did your fave make the grade? Take a look at the full line-up for our region.

It’s always exciting to see which of our favourite local kitchens nab Michelin stars and Bib Gourmands. The new 2020 Michelin awards were announced this week so here are the best in business in Hants and IoW. I’ll take a table for two at all of them, please!

Hampshire

The Black Rat, Winchester ★

Black Rat Winchester One Michelin Star External

Winchester’s finest has done it again! The Black Rat in Winchester oozes with laidback charm, features its own herb and veg gardens on-site and retains its status as the ONLY Michelin Starred eatery in both counties. Huge congratulations to Head Chef Jon Marsden-Jones and his team.

The Crown Inn, Upton – Bib Gourmand

Crown Inn Upton

While this may look like a repeat winner of the Bib Gourmand, following a change of ownership this year this is actually a brand spanking new Bib Gourmand in the county. Hampshire-born and alum of Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Dave Watts has taken ownership of this fave spot and has BIG plans moving forward. Keep your eyes open for this one!

Pulpo Negro, Alresford – Bib Gourmand

Pulpo Negro

Casual dining and small plates doesn’t mean you skimp on foodie kudos and nowhere does this better than Alresford’s Pulpo Negro. Skip flying out to Spain and instead spend your airfare on fab food and wine at this local gem.

Isle of Wight

Seaview Hotel, Seaview – Bib Gourmand

Seaview Hotel

As if the gorgeous village of Seaview wasn’t awesome enough, Seaview Hotel retains its Bib Gourmand status for the fifth year in a row. With local and foodie wunderkind Tom Bull at the helm not to mention ALL the amazing Island produce on offer, they boast the only Michelin Bib Gourmand on the entire Island. Added bonus? A three-course dinner with stonking views of the Solent will only set you back on average £28 here.

PS – If you’re seeking for a more low-key, laid-back or frankly less spendy dinner, don’t forget we also review a ridiculous number of brilliant pubs, cafes and restaurants on a weekly basis – look HERE!
