Twisted Nose, Winchester
Artisan Gin, it's a thing. Introducing Hampshire's very own spirit.
Unless you’re an ostrich, you’ll know that Artisan Gin is a thing, so much so that there’s even a World Gin Day… and wouldn’t you know, it’s this weekend.
To celebrate the auspicious occasion, it only seems polite to showcase Hampshire’s very own Twisted Nose: small batch, craft distilled spirit from the Winchester Distillery it has Hampshire running through its very veins. Why Twisted Nose? Think Alresford watercress which flourishes in the chalk streams for which good ship Hants is famous.
The Romans called watercress ‘nasturtium’ or twisted nose (a ha) and the peppery oils in the plant stimulate the tastebuds. Other flavours in this Hampshire gin include grapefruit, fennel seed and Longbarn lavender.
As if nasal jiving wasn’t enough, this county’s crazy, gin-cats also got a thing for Dancing Cows, Gorilla Spirits, not to mention the new kid on the block, Test Valley Gin. Intrigued? Read Muddy’s Guide to Artisan Gins. Meanwhile, I’m off to to The Ginchester Fete.
