Café. Olé.

Winchester, Alresford, Southsea and more: your flat-white fix in Hampshire.

Urban, exposed brickwork inside of a cafe.

/ Honesty Café: Small but perfectly formed see also Honesty’s new outlet in Caviste wine merchants, Overton.

/ Kudos Coffee: New-ish kid on the block, perch in the window for a spot of people-watching.

/ Honesty v. Caviste: see above.

/ Overton Gallery: Lovely the courtyard café with a friendly community vibe.

/ Coffee Lab, basically Winch’s common room with an open, airy hipster-meets-community space feel. Perfect for remote workers.

/ Josie’s at the top of town for the best brunch: eggs benedict five ways plus more. (Also see the outlet in Bishop’s Waltham)

/ Flat White’s retro caravan just off the High St on Market St for a proper-coffee, pick-me-up. It also has an outlet in Stonemason’s Court off Parchment St.

/ Rawberry on Parchment St for juices and organic coffee.

/ Hoxton Bakehouse on Jewry St for any self-respecting sourdough-obsessive, expect decent coffee too.

/ Little Kitchen Company’s bistro for a gulp country air and somewhere accessible with oodles of parking.

/ Good Life Farm Shop in King’s Worthy. Ditto.

/ Thrive Cafe and Wellbeing for something more earthy-rootsy in Oliver’s Battery on the city’s outskirts: expect coffee with a side-serving of veggie food and yoga.

/ Carricoli: Hampstead in Hampshire all the way, expect good coffee and special nibbles in the deli (also see the small outlet on Winchester High St).

/ Long Barn: great coffee, lifestyle goodies, brilliant events and tonnes of parking. Count us in.

/ Mettricks, three outlets and counting (Old Town, Guildhall & Woolston), plus a market pop-up. Fast becoming an institution.

/ The Docks Coffee House: the dark stuff on Southampton docks, plus a friendly vibe. What’s not to love?

/ Café Thrive: vegan all the way.

Old Portsmouth/Southsea

/ The Canteen: Slap-bang on the seafront, spot naval ships through the portholes, lap up the urban-rustic vibe and don’t forget to explore Hotwalls’ artist and makers studios either.

/ Southsea Coffee Co: Portsea Island’s mecca for all things caffeine, also expect super-nutritious-delicious local produce.

/ SALT Café: Grab a proper flat white post dog-walk or, if your tastes veer towards hipster, make it a turmeric latte.

/ Greedo: Coffee. tick. Brunch. tick. This is the place to go after a bracing walk along the seafront.
